tonight we wake for the hummingbird’s fluttering wings

a soft buzz      swish      like the weeping

of the broken vase    dusty dreams of crystalline filth

stroke the pieces they are black and dead

 

like the man in the limousine 

 

will you take your bloodied shards 

will you hide them by his burning grave

 

play the sky music      play the melody  

by the blue rose in his eye 

write      about mermaids like the haunted girl 

she had no voice why

didn’t she talk
